So, what is alaska king crab?

Alaska king crab is a species of large decapod crustacean, primarily referring to the red king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus), harvested commercially for its edible meat.

These crabs inhabit cold marine waters in the northern Pacific Ocean, especially the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska. Commercial fisheries catch wild king crabs using large baited wire pots placed on the ocean floor. After harvesting, processors typically boil or steam the legs and claws before freezing or canning them for retail and foodservice distribution. On packaged food labels, Alaska king crab appears in frozen prepared meals, seafood soups, bisques, crab cakes, sushi, dips, and concentrated seafood flavor bases.

Alaska king crab is not vegan because it is an animal tissue. Any product containing this ingredient is derived from a marine animal and cannot be included in a vegan diet.
