So, what is animal fat?
Animal fat is a versatile ingredient used in many cuisines around the world. It is derived from the adipose tissue of animals and is commonly sourced from pigs, cows, and chickens. Animal fat has a higher melting point than vegetable oils, making it ideal for high-temperature cooking methods such as frying and roasting. It also adds richness and depth to dishes, enhancing their flavor and texture. However, animal fat is high in saturated fats, which can increase cholesterol levels and contribute to heart disease if consumed in excess. Therefore, it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
