So, what is anis estrellado?
Anis estrellado, also known as star anise, is a unique and highly aromatic spice that originates from China. It is named after its star-shaped pods, which contain small brown seeds with a strong licorice-like flavor and sweet, slightly bitter notes. Anis estrellado is commonly used in Asian cuisine, such as in soups, stews, and curries, and is also a key ingredient in Chinese five-spice powder. This versatile spice can also be used in baking, cocktails, and even in homemade skincare products due to its antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
