So, what is boneblack?
Boneblack is a food ingredient that is produced by charring animal bones to a high temperature, which results in a fine black powder. It is commonly used as a natural colorant, especially in the food industry, to give a deep black hue to various food products such as black jelly beans, licorice candy, and other confectionery. Boneblack is also used in sugar refining and as a filter for removing impurities in the production of alcohol and other beverages. Despite its dark color, boneblack is a flavorless ingredient that does not affect the taste or texture of food.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
