So, what is bushmeat?
Bushmeat refers to the meat of wild animals that are hunted and consumed by humans, typically in sub-Saharan Africa and other parts of the world. The term encompasses a wide range of species, including primates, rodents, antelopes, and crocodiles, among others. While bushmeat has been a part of traditional diets in many regions for centuries, over-hunting and the global trade in illegal wildlife has led to ecological imbalances and the spread of zoonotic diseases like Ebola and COVID-19. As such, there is increasing awareness of the need for sustainable and responsible hunting practices, as well as alternatives to bushmeat in local diets.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
