So, what is bourbon vanilla?
Bourbon vanilla is a premium variety of vanilla known for its exquisite aroma and taste. It is produced using the pods of Vanilla planifolia, a species of orchid native to Madagascar. Unlike other vanilla varieties, bourbon vanilla is cured and aged for several months, which gives it a rich and complex flavor profile with notes of caramel and anise. Its name comes from the fact that it was historically grown on the Bourbon Islands, now known as Réunion. Bourbon vanilla is a versatile ingredient used in many desserts, such as ice cream, cakes, and custards, as well as in savory dishes like sauces and marinades.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
