So, what is caffeine?

Caffeine is a natural stimulant found in many foods and beverages, including coffee, tea, chocolate, and energy drinks. It is known for its ability to improve alertness, concentration, and mental performance. Caffeine works by blocking the action of adenosine, a neurotransmitter that promotes sleep and suppresses arousal. This leads to increased production of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine, which can enhance mood and cognitive function. While caffeine can have some beneficial effects, excessive consumption can lead to negative side effects such as insomnia, anxiety, and rapid heartbeat.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like caffeine?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
