So, what is calcium iodate?

Calcium iodate is a white, odorless powder that is commonly used as a food additive to fortify products with iodine. It is a stable and soluble compound that provides a good source of iodine, a mineral essential for thyroid health and proper metabolism. Calcium iodate is typically added to salt, bread, and other baked goods to prevent iodine deficiency, a leading cause of goiter and other thyroid-related disorders. While generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, excessive intake of calcium iodate may lead to adverse health effects, and as such, should be used in moderation.
