So, what is candelilla wax?
Candelilla wax is a natural vegetable wax derived from the candelilla shrub, which grows in the southwestern United States and Mexico. The wax is obtained by boiling the shrub and skimming off the wax that rises to the surface. Candelilla wax has a light yellow color and a delicate, floral scent. It is commonly used in cosmetic and personal care products, such as lip balms, lotions, and hair products, due to its emollient and moisturizing properties. Candelilla wax is also used as a vegan alternative to beeswax in candles and other wax-based products. It has a high melting point and provides a firm, glossy finish when used in formulations.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
