So, what is ficus religiosa?

Ficus religiosa, also known as the sacred fig, is a species of fig tree that is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its distinctive heart-shaped leaves and aerial roots make it a revered symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The fruit of the ficus religiosa, called peepal in Hindi, is small and round with a sweet, edible flesh. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat various ailments, including respiratory infections and digestive issues. In culinary applications, the figs can be eaten fresh, dried, or made into jams and chutneys.
