So, what is cire de polyéthylène oxydée?
Cire de polyéthylène oxydée, or oxidized polyethylene wax, is a versatile and highly stable food ingredient commonly used as a lubricant, release agent, and processing aid. This waxy substance is derived from polyethylene through a process that involves controlled oxidation, resulting in a product that exhibits excellent thermal stability, water resistance, and low volatility. Its high melting point makes it suitable for a variety of applications, including confectionery, chewing gum, and food packaging. As an additive, cire de polyéthylène oxydée improves texture, mouthfeel, and shelf life, while also providing a smooth and glossy finish.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
