So, what is clou d girofle?
Cloves, also known as "clou de girofle" in French, are a highly aromatic spice that are derived from the flower buds of the clove tree. These small, dark brown buds are often used in both sweet and savory dishes to add a warm and slightly sweet flavor. They are a common ingredient in traditional French cuisine, where they are often used to season stews, soups, and sauces. Cloves also have a long history of use in traditional medicine, where they are believed to have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and pain-relieving properties. In addition to their culinary and medicinal uses, cloves are often used in perfumes, cosmetics, and dental products due to their pleasant scent and antibacterial properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
