So, what is coloral?
Coloral, also known as achiote or annatto, is a bright orange-red spice commonly used in Latin American, Caribbean, and Filipino cuisine. It is derived from the seeds of the annatto tree and has a slightly sweet and peppery flavor with a subtle hint of nutmeg. Coloral is often used as a natural food coloring to give dishes a vibrant yellow-orange hue, such as in rice dishes, stews, marinades, and sauces. It is also a popular ingredient in spice blends and is used to add a depth of flavor to dishes such as tacos, tamales, and empanadas. Additionally, coloral is believed to have some health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory properties and may help lower blood pressure.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
