So, what is coprah?
Coprah is a versatile ingredient derived from the meaty part of mature coconuts. The word "coprah" itself refers to the dried kernel of the coconut, which is rich in oil and flavor. This ingredient is commonly used in Southeast Asian and Pacific Island cuisines, where it adds a nutty, tropical taste to dishes. Coprah is often used in the production of coconut oil, but it can also be grated and toasted to create a crunchy topping for desserts or added to curries and stews for added texture and flavor. Its high oil content makes it a great vegan substitute for butter or oil in recipes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
