So, what is de lard?
De lard is a classic ingredient in French cuisine that is essentially rendered pork fat. It's often used to add flavor and richness to dishes, particularly in braising and roasting. Due to its high smoke point, it's also great for frying foods. De lard can come in various forms, such as cubes or strips, but is most commonly found in a solid block. When used in moderation, de lard can add a delicious depth of flavor to your meals. However, it's important to note that excessive consumption of de lard can be unhealthy due to its high fat content.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
