So, what is diethyl sebacate?
Diethyl sebacate is a clear, colorless liquid that is used as a food ingredient and flavoring agent. It is derived from sebacic acid, which is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid found in animal fats and vegetable oils. Diethyl sebacate has a fruity, slightly floral odor and is commonly used in the production of perfumes, as well as in the food industry to enhance flavors such as raspberry, peach, and blackcurrant. It is also used as a plasticizer and solvent in the manufacture of plastics and resins. Diethyl sebacate is considered safe for consumption by regulatory bodies and has no known adverse health effects when used in accordance with good manufacturing practices.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
