So, what is difosfati?
Difosfati, also known as diphosphates, are a type of food additive commonly used in processed foods to enhance texture, improve moisture retention, and extend shelf life. Difosfati are composed of two phosphate groups and can be derived from natural sources such as bones or synthesized chemically. While they are generally considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies, some studies have suggested that excessive consumption of difosfati may have negative health effects, such as cardiovascular disease. Nonetheless, difosfati remain a widely used ingredient in many food products, from bread to sausage.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
