So, what is disodium-guanylate?
Disodium guanylate, also known as sodium 5'-guanylate, is a flavor enhancer commonly used in processed foods to add a savory or umami taste. It is a white crystalline powder that is derived from the nucleotide guanosine monophosphate (GMP) and is often used in conjunction with monosodium glutamate (MSG) to enhance the flavor of food. Disodium guanylate is a safe and effective food additive that is recognized as generally safe by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is commonly found in snack foods, soups, sauces, and seasonings.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
