So, what is ditallowdimonium chloride?
Ditallowdimonium chloride is a type of quaternary ammonium compound that is derived from tallow, a fatty substance obtained from animal fat. It is commonly used as a conditioning agent in hair care products and fabric softeners due to its ability to penetrate the hair or fabric fibers and provide a softening effect. This ingredient is also used as an antimicrobial agent in various cleaning and personal care products to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. While ditallowdimonium chloride has been found to be safe for use in cosmetics, some studies have raised concerns about its potential environmental impact.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
