So, what is down?
Down is a soft and fluffy material that is derived from the undercoat of geese and ducks. It is commonly used in bedding and clothing for its excellent insulation and moisture-wicking properties. However, down can also be used as a food ingredient in certain dishes, particularly in Eastern European cuisine. In these dishes, down is added to soups and stews to create a rich and hearty texture, and is often paired with hearty root vegetables and savory meats. Down is a unique ingredient that adds a distinct texture and flavor to any dish it is used in.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
