So, what is dyes?
Dyes are food ingredients that are added to enhance the appearance of food products. These are natural or synthetic substances that are used to provide color to a variety of food items, from candies and baked goods to beverages and processed meats. Dyes are carefully regulated by food safety agencies to ensure that they are safe for human consumption. Natural dyes are extracted from fruits, vegetables, and other plant materials, while synthetic dyes are chemically derived. Although dyes may make food look more appetizing, they do not contribute any nutritional value to the food.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
