So, what is emmental‘?

Emmental, also known as Emmentaler or Swiss cheese, is a hard, yellow cheese with a distinctive nutty and slightly sweet flavor. It originates from the Emmental region in Switzerland and is typically made from cow's milk. Emmental is characterized by its iconic large, walnut-sized holes or "eyes," which are formed during the cheese-making process. This versatile cheese is perfect for snacking, melting, and adding flavor to a variety of dishes. It pairs well with fruits, nuts, and cured meats, and is a popular ingredient in fondue and sandwiches. Emmental is also a good source of calcium and protein.
