So, what is erytrytol?

Erythritol is a natural sweetener that is gaining popularity as a sugar substitute due to its low calorie count and ability to mimic the taste of sugar without causing an increase in blood glucose levels. It is a type of sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables, but can also be produced through fermentation. Unlike other sugar alcohols, erythritol does not cause digestive issues such as bloating and diarrhea. It has a cooling effect on the tongue and is commonly used in sugar-free gums, candies, and baked goods. Erythritol is also suitable for people on a keto or low-carb diet as it has zero net carbs.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like erytrytol?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
