So, what is fonds de veau?
Fonds de veau, also known as veal stock, is a rich and savory ingredient used in French cuisine as a base for sauces, stews, and soups. Made from simmering veal bones, vegetables, and aromatics for hours, this complex and flavorful liquid is known for its gelatinous texture and deep brown color. Fonds de veau adds depth and complexity to dishes, and is often used to enhance the flavors of meats, poultry, and vegetables. It can also be used as a simple broth, and is a key component in classic French dishes such as veal blanquette and coq au vin.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
