So, what is fucus?
Fucus, also known as bladderwrack, is a type of seaweed commonly found in the North Atlantic and Baltic Sea regions. This brownish-green seaweed is packed with nutrients, including iodine, iron, magnesium, calcium, and vitamins A and C. Due to its high iodine content, fucus has been traditionally used to support thyroid health. Fucus can be added to soups, salads, and smoothies, or used as a seasoning in seafood dishes. Its slightly salty and earthy flavor makes it a versatile ingredient in many recipes. Additionally, fucus is considered a sustainable food source, as it can be harvested without damaging the marine environment.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
