So, what is gallate de propyle?
Propyl gallate is a food ingredient that is commonly used as an antioxidant to prevent spoilage and increase shelf life. It is a type of gallate ester that is derived from gallic acid and has a slightly bitter taste. Propyl gallate is often added to foods that contain fats and oils, such as baked goods, margarine, and snack foods. It can also be found in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. Despite its widespread use, there have been concerns about its safety and potential health effects, leading to some countries limiting its use or banning it altogether.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
