So, what is glicin?
Glycine, also known as glicin, is a non-essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in the body's protein synthesis process. This sweet-tasting ingredient is the smallest amino acid and is considered nonpolar due to its side chain of a single hydrogen atom. It is found in various food sources, including meat, fish, dairy products, and legumes. Aside from its role in protein synthesis, glycine also functions as a neurotransmitter, aiding in the transmission of nerve signals. It has been linked to various health benefits, such as improving sleep quality and reducing inflammation. Glicin can also be found in dietary supplements and is commonly used in the food industry as a flavor enhancer and sweetener.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
