So, what is gras bovin?
Gras bovin, also known as beef fat or tallow, is a rendered form of beef suet that is commonly used as a cooking ingredient. It has a high smoke point, making it ideal for frying, roasting, and sautéing. Gras bovin is also used in the production of soaps, candles, and cosmetics due to its moisturizing properties. Although it is high in saturated fat, gras bovin contains essential fatty acids and has a long shelf life. It adds a rich, savory flavor to dishes and can be used as a substitute for butter or oil in many recipes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
