So, what is hipromelosa?
Hipromelosa is a synthetic polymer widely used in the food industry as an emulsifier, thickener, and stabilizer. It is a white, tasteless, and odorless powder that forms a gel-like texture when mixed with water. Hipromelosa is highly soluble in both hot and cold liquids and has excellent film-forming properties. Due to its versatility, it is commonly found in a variety of processed foods such as sauces, dressings, baked goods, and dairy products. Despite being a synthetic ingredient, hipromelosa is considered safe for human consumption and is approved by regulatory bodies such as the FDA and EFSA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
