So, what is hmelj?
Hmelj is a Slovenian word that translates to "hops" in English. Hops are cone-shaped flowers that belong to the Cannabaceae family and are primarily used as a flavoring and stability agent in beer production. This ingredient contains alpha and beta acids, essential oils, tannins, and resins that contribute to the bitterness and aroma of beer. Hops also have potential health benefits such as reducing inflammation, anxiety, and insomnia. Moreover, dried hops can be used to make teas or infused into various dishes for a unique herbal flavor.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
