So, what is hydrogenated lard glyceride?
Hydrogenated lard glyceride is a food ingredient commonly used in the baking and food processing industries. It is a type of fat made by adding hydrogen to lard, a rendered form of pig fat, to increase its melting point and improve its stability. The resulting product has a creamy white color and a smooth texture, which makes it ideal for use in many baked goods, such as cookies and pastries. Hydrogenated lard glyceride is also used as a flavor enhancer in some processed foods, but it has fallen out of favor in recent years due to its high content of saturated fats, which are associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
