So, what is hydrogenated lanolin?
Hydrogenated lanolin is a waxy substance derived from sheep's wool. It is produced by the hydrogenation process of lanolin, which involves adding hydrogen molecules to the substance to increase its stability and improve its consistency. Hydrogenated lanolin is a versatile ingredient commonly used in cosmetics and skincare products as an emulsifier, thickener, and moisturizer. Its unique molecular structure allows it to penetrate deep into the skin, creating a protective barrier to prevent moisture loss and keep the skin hydrated. Additionally, it has excellent emollient properties, which makes it an ideal ingredient for soothing and softening rough, dry skin.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
