So, what is hydrogenated soya oil?
Hydrogenated soya oil is a type of oil that is processed by adding hydrogen to liquid soya oil to create a more solid form. This process can increase the shelf life of the oil and make it more stable at higher temperatures, which makes it a popular ingredient in many processed foods. However, hydrogenation can also create trans fats, which have been linked to negative health effects. Therefore, it is important to consume hydrogenated soya oil in moderation and to choose products with lower amounts of trans fats.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
