So, what is hydroxylated lanolin?
Hydroxylated lanolin is a versatile food ingredient that is derived from sheep's wool. It is a complex mixture of lanolin alcohols and their derivatives that have been modified with hydroxyl groups. Hydroxylated lanolin has emulsifying properties, which makes it useful as a stabilizer in a wide range of food products, including baked goods, dairy products, and dressings. It is also a natural source of vitamin D3, which makes it a popular ingredient in fortified foods. The hydroxylated form of lanolin has been shown to be more water-soluble than regular lanolin, making it easier to work with in food formulations.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
