So, what is hydroxypropylcellulose?
Hydroxypropylcellulose is a food ingredient derived from cellulose, a natural polymer found in plant cell walls. It is a water-soluble, odorless, and tasteless powder that is commonly used as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier in a variety of food products such as sauces, dressings, and baked goods. Due to its high water-binding capacity, it can help to improve the texture, viscosity, and shelf life of food products. Hydroxypropylcellulose is also used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and personal care products due to its excellent film-forming and thickening properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
