So, what is isostearyl palmitate?
Isostearyl palmitate is a vegetable-based ester that is commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products as an emollient and lubricant. It is created by combining palmitic acid, a saturated fatty acid found in plants and animals, with isostearyl alcohol, a fatty alcohol derived from the branched-chain fatty acid isostearic acid. Isostearyl palmitate has a light texture and a non-greasy feel, making it an ideal ingredient in moisturizers, lotions, and creams. It also provides a smooth and silky finish to the skin, leaving it soft and supple. Isostearyl palmitate is considered safe for use in cosmetics and has a low risk of causing skin irritation or allergies.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
