So, what is kaliumnitraat?
Kaliumnitraat, also known as potassium nitrate or saltpetre, is a chemical compound that has a variety of uses in the food industry. It is commonly used as a preservative, particularly in meats and sausages, to prevent spoilage and extend shelf life. In addition, kaliumnitraat is often used as a curing agent for ham and bacon, where it helps to give these products their distinctive flavor and color. Kaliumnitraat can also be used as a component of fertilizer, fireworks, and rocket propellant. However, it should be handled with care, as it can be toxic in high concentrations.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
