So, what is kjøtt?
Kjøtt is a Norwegian term for meat, deriving from the Old Norse word "kjöt". It refers to any edible flesh of animals, typically beef, pork, or lamb. Kjøtt plays a significant role in Norwegian cuisine, often used as the main ingredient in traditional dishes such as kjøttkaker (meatballs), pinnekjøtt (dried and salted lamb ribs), and fårikål (lamb stew). The high-quality meats are usually sourced from local farms, where animals are raised on natural diets and allowed to graze freely. Kjøtt is a versatile ingredient in cooking, providing protein, essential nutrients, and rich flavor to various dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
