So, what is le lactose?

Lactose is a naturally occurring sugar found in mammalian milk, including cow's milk. It consists of two simple sugars, glucose and galactose, linked together. Lactose plays an important role in the nutrition of infants as it provides energy and helps with the absorption of calcium. However, many adults have difficulty digesting lactose due to a deficiency in the enzyme lactase. This can lead to symptoms such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea. Lactose is commonly used as a sweetener and thickening agent in food products, but lactose-free alternatives are available for those who are lactose intolerant.
