So, what is llevat?

Llevat, also known as yeast, is a type of microscopic fungus used in baking and brewing. This versatile ingredient comes in different forms, including fresh, dry, and instant, each with its unique characteristics. Fresh yeast is highly perishable and requires refrigeration, while dry and instant yeast have a longer shelf life and can be stored at room temperature. Llevat works by fermenting sugars in dough or liquid, producing carbon dioxide gas that causes the dough to rise or beer to ferment. This process gives bread and beer their characteristic flavors, textures, and aromas. Llevat is a crucial ingredient in many baked goods, such as bread, pizza, and pastries, as well as beer and wine production.
