So, what is maracuya?

Maracuya, also known as passion fruit, is a tropical fruit that is native to South America, but is now grown in many other parts of the world. The fruit is about the size of a small apple and has a hard, shiny exterior that ranges in color from dark purple to yellow. Inside, the fruit contains juicy, edible seeds surrounded by a sweet, tart pulp. Maracuya has a unique flavor that is often described as a combination of sweet and sour, with hints of pineapple, mango, and citrus. It is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes, from sweet desserts to savory sauces. Maracuya is also known for its high nutritional value, as it is a good source of vitamins A and C, fiber, and antioxidants.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like maracuya?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
