So, what is matiére grasse de karité?
Matière grasse de karité, also known as shea butter, is a natural fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree. It has a smooth, creamy texture and a pale yellow color, with a mild nutty aroma. With its high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins, shea butter is a popular ingredient in skincare products due to its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to its cosmetic uses, matière grasse de karité is also used in cooking and as a natural alternative to traditional dairy products in vegan and lactose-free diets.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
