So, what is matière grasse végétale partiellement hydrogenée?
"Matière grasse végétale partiellement hydrogénée" is a food ingredient commonly used in processed foods, particularly baked goods and snacks. This ingredient is made by subjecting vegetable oil to a process called partial hydrogenation, which transforms the liquid oil into a semi-solid form. Partially hydrogenated vegetable fat helps give products a desirable texture, shelf life, and flavor. However, it has been linked to health issues such as increased risk of heart disease due to its high trans fat content. As a result, many countries have banned or restricted the use of partially hydrogenated oils in food products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
