So, what is muskot?

Muskot is a versatile spice that adds a warm and comforting aroma to both sweet and savory dishes. Also known as nutmeg, muskot is the seed of the evergreen tree Myristica fragrans. The spice has a slightly sweet and nutty flavor, with hints of cinnamon and clove. It is commonly used in baking, such as in cakes, cookies, and pies, but also works well in savory dishes like soups, stews, and sauces. Muskot can be ground or grated fresh, and a little goes a long way in terms of flavor. Beyond its culinary uses, muskot has also been used for its medicinal properties, such as aiding digestion and promoting relaxation.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like muskot?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
