So, what is natriumbenzoat?
Natriumbenzoat is a chemical compound commonly used as a food preservative. Also known as sodium benzoate, it is a white crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water. Natriumbenzoat is often added to acidic foods such as sodas, fruit juices, and pickles to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi that can cause spoilage. It works by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms that can thrive in acidic environments. While generally considered safe for consumption in small amounts, some studies have linked natriumbenzoat to hyperactivity and other health concerns in children.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
