So, what is natriumnitrit?
Natriumnitrit, also known as sodium nitrite, is a white crystalline powder that is commonly used as a food preservative and color fixative. It is a type of salt that is typically added to processed meats, such as bacon, hot dogs, and deli meats, to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and improve their shelf life. Natriumnitrit also gives these meats a pink or reddish color and a distinctive flavor. However, excessive consumption of natriumnitrit has been linked to health problems, such as an increased risk of cancer, so it should be used sparingly and in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
