So, what is oil-seed camellia?
Oil-seed camellia, also known as Camellia oleifera, is a plant species native to China that is highly valued for its oil-rich seeds. The seeds are cold-pressed to produce a golden-hued oil with a subtle, nutty flavor and a high smoke point, making it ideal for stir-frying, sautéing, and deep-frying. Rich in antioxidants and healthy monounsaturated fats, oil-seed camellia is a popular ingredient in Asian cuisine and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat a variety of ailments. It is also gaining popularity in the Western world as a healthier alternative to other cooking oils.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
