So, what is partially hydrogenated vegetable fat?
Partially hydrogenated vegetable fat is a type of processed oil that has been chemically altered to increase its shelf life and make it more stable for cooking. It is commonly used in processed foods like baked goods, margarine, and snack foods. Partially hydrogenated vegetable fats are created by adding hydrogen atoms to the oil, which changes its chemical structure and makes it a solid at room temperature. However, consuming this type of fat has been linked to health problems such as heart disease, so it's important to limit intake or avoid it altogether whenever possible.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
