So, what is graisse de porc?
"Graisse de porc" is a French term that refers to pork fat or lard. It's a versatile ingredient used widely in cooking, baking, and seasoning. The rendered fat has a distinctive flavor and aroma, adding richness and depth to dishes. Its high smoke point makes it ideal for frying and sautéing while creating a crispy texture. In addition to its culinary uses, pork fat is also used in the production of cosmetics, soaps, and candles due to its moisturizing and emollient properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
