So, what is pektin?
Pectin is a naturally occurring carbohydrate that is commonly used in the food industry as a thickening agent. It is found in the cell walls of many fruits and vegetables, including apples, citrus fruits, and carrots. Pectin is commonly used in the production of jams, jellies, and other preserves, as it helps to thicken and stabilize these products. It is also used in the production of many other food products, including baked goods, dairy products, and beverages. Pectin is considered to be a healthy ingredient, as it is low in calories and high in fiber, and may have potential health benefits, such as reducing cholesterol levels and improving gut health.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
